| Dear Ricky and Serenella, with the present one I want above all greet and thank you for your initiative in favor of the Tibetan refugees, laymen and monk, that at present live in exile in India. As you know in this special historical period, the Tibetan people, after the forced occupation from the Chinese soldiers happened in 1959, are facing difficult moment, I would say almost crucial for its ethnic and cultural survival. There is need of information to make acquaintance that in Tibet is in action a progressive intensification of the process of "sinizzazione" of the Tibetans by the reduction of the use of the Tibetan language in the scholastic teaching, and to make acquaintance that many civil and democratic rights at present were abolished. Besides, there is also need of a some economical help for those Tibetan refugees than continually arrive in India to reunite itself to the actual familiar or to follow their spiritual leader: the XIV Dalai Lama. The Tibetan government in exile and the monasteries at present are pledging for their maintenance and their essential needs, but what is offered is the minimum indispensable. On the base of these specific necessity, and for the preservation of the people and of the Tibetan culture, I feel the responsability of appeal to the generosity of the kind Italians with the request to take care of this people that are facing difficulties and to help it in some way. Thanks for your kindness and your actvities to support the Tibetan people Geshe Jampa Gyatso |
